Kweku Darlington is a Ghanaian musician from Kumasi. He has said that his father was struggling to support him and his three siblings. Because of this, he left Kumasi for Accra, a city where he knew no one.
In Accra he had no place to stay. In an interview reported by GhanaMusic.com in September 2021, he said he mostly slept at the VIP Circle bus station and under bridges, until someone took him in. The report does not say how long he spent this way. He added that he never shed a tear during this time, and that he believes the experience made him strong enough to pursue his dream.
His break came through a connection online. He met the music distributor Kwame Baah on Facebook, who encouraged him to come home and discuss how to improve his career. He then entered the Mentor music competition, and he progressed in it even though he had been evicted early on, as he recalled.
