Kay Sibiya is a South African television personality and actor. Before he was known on screen, he had worked as a waiter, a model, a booking agent and a bank teller. In 2012, he decided to move to Johannesburg to pursue acting.
He arrived with very little. He told DRUM that he had lost a lot of money in shares, and used what was left to buy a bus ticket to Johannesburg. After buying the ticket, he said, he was left with only R50 to his name.
He had no fixed place to live in the city. He stayed in a series of temporary spots, saying he had to squat all over the place and that he moved nine times in under a year.
His first break came as presenter of the first season of SABC 1's music show Sunday Chillaz, alongside Kedibone Mkhabela. After that, he joined the soap opera Uzalo, playing Ayanda Mdletshe.
